A HUGE thank you to Jenn at High Heel Golfer!  I went to her happy hour last night and met some amazing, fun, hilarious women. I also reconnected with some old friends, including golf.  I haven't played in years and I took my first step back into the game last night. Being a Guru at Hera Hub

Since the inception of Hera Hub I have been the Community Small Business Health Insurance Guru there.  I LOVE it and it has brought me a lot of referrals and business over the last year.  I am so grateful to my long time friend Felena Hanson not only for opening Hera Hub but for including me in this great venture from the beginning.  Staring next mo I am going to make a big change along with the opening of Hera Hub in Carlsbad.  I am going to change to the Tax Free Retirement Guru for Hera Hub in Carlsbad.  I will be there on Tuesdays from 2-4pm donating my time.  Thanks!  I look forward to this great change. I also look forward to the fun I will be having in the business in the future.  With Obamacare starting in a few months, I have had to make some great business changes.  I will still be taking referrals for health insurance and helping people with their health insurance needs but for the Hera Hub community I will be the Tax Free Retirement Guru.  Due to the make up of Hera Hub I am not able to do both as I anticipated doing months ago.  I have to pick one location and be just one guru.  I have been in the Financial Services business for over 20 years and have 10+ years now experience helping people with health insurance.  We are in for a great ride over the next few years with the PPACA.  Have a great week all!

How Are Off-Exchange Plans Different?

**Question**: From my understanding, the carriers that are participating in the exchange have to offer the same plans outside of the exchange which are IN the exchange and nothing more. Is this correct? **Answer**: Off-exchange, carriers have to offer the standard plans offered inside Covered California without modification. But they are free to offer other benefit designs off-exchange as long as they conform to ACA guidelines such as essential health benefits and actuarial values. This should allow for a little innovation. Also all HSA-qualified plans will be off-exchange.

PPACA

Today, the Obama administration announced that the employer mandate aspect of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will be delayed by one year.

This mandate requires businesses with 50 or more workers to provide health insurance coverage to employees. As a result, the administration will start enforcing the mandate in 2015, rather than January 1, 2014, in an effort to give businesses more time to prepare.

There will be additional changes tied to this delay, and the administration has stated that they will provide formal guidance within the next week.

BenefitMall is working with the various regulatory agencies to understand the specifics surrounding this ruling, and will continue to provide updates through Legislative Alerts and on their blog -HealthcareExchange.com.
