What kind of car would you be?
I went to a great event with NAWBO San Diego last week where Felena Hanson, the owner of Hera Hub spoke. One of the items she brought up was, what car would you be when you think of your business. Its a very good question. A lot of the women in the room had a hard time with it, its also hard to distinguish between you and your business. Sometimes its the same car but sometimes its not. I chose my car, The Chevrolet Camaro, because its reliable and safe and dependable. Its considered a flashy sports car to some but to ins co its a coupe and not considered a sports car. I am a lil sporty sometimes. What car would you/your business be?
Then On Friday last week at the Hera Hub Members only lunch, Felena asked us if we could be a vegetable which vegetable would you/your business be? I chose the carrot, it helps ppl with eye site and I thought of my business. I guide ppl thru the chaotic choice between Cobra or getting an ind health insurance plan on their own. I enable them to see their options more clearly. I also guide ppl in their choice of financial vehicles for retirement savings or college savings for their kids. I help them to see their options for either more clearly. What veggie would you be?

Anthem CA Healthcare Reform meeting this morning
Wow! I was in a healthcare reform meeting this morning and its crazy, there are changes happening daily and new information coming out all the time. Its mind boggling even for someone who is doing this 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I don't know if you saw my tweets yesterday but the new application for health insurance beginning 1/1 is 21 pages long! Ridiculous, how can it be 21 pages long when there is no underwriting? All plans come 1/1 will be guaranteed issue. Hilarious. The apps now are not even 21 pages long with underwriting. I was noticing all the other agents in the room and their reactions to various topics, of course a big one was our commissions. Apparently we are still going to get commissions but what they will be is a question still. They were reduced significantly back on 3/23/10 when the bill was signed and apparently its coming again when open enrollment begins in 10/13 for the PPACA. The open enrollment period for folks will be from October of this year to 3//31/2014. We expect open enrollment to be delayed already due to the short time frame all the carriers and the Feds have to get everything set up and approved but we shall see. For all of my colleagues out there who would like to supplement your income in our business with life and annuity sales helping ppl with retirement planning and college savings for their kids and grandkids, I would be happy to talk to you about joining me on my team at Five Rings Financial. Our Next Money 101 free seminar is on April 10 in San Marcos, CA. Have a great day all!
