PPACA FAQ
What are the penalties if employers do not offer coverage in 2014?
If no coverage is offered to full-time employees AND any full-time employee receives premium assistance from the federal government, the employer penalty is:
$2,000 annually for each full-time employee minus 30
If coverage is offered to full-time employees BUT any full-time employee receives premium assistance from the federal government, the employer penalty is the lesser of:
$3,000 for each employee receiving premium assistance OR
$2,000 per employee for each full-time employee minus 30
If an employer does not currently offer dependent coverage, no penalty is due for the plan year beginning in 2014 if the employer takes steps to offer dependent coverage during the 2014 plan year.
